Termites - crawling around in their
mud nests that they call home. All around the country you see these big
brown balls in the tree branches, and cutting or breaking them open
reveals the little orange or white ant-like creatures. I don't know how
or why they make these nests of mud in the trees, but I do know that
when I stepped on this branch in Corcovado (bottom), it crumbled under
my feet because of the thousands of termites hard at work.
