More pictures from our trip...
One of the things that were available for visitors were many colorful metal pins. I picked up these, and some others, during the trip. Many celebrate the reign of Vladimir Lenin, and the virtues of Communism. They provide an interesting insight into Russian culture and values.
For anyone interested, this is what the communications link to the partnership schools looked like. In addition to Moscow, the project involved Owego Free Adademy, Guilderland High School, and Raffles Institute (Singapore).
One of the formalities during our trip was the exchanging of business cards. It was a way of introducing yourself, and after that, you were "official"! Alexander's card is on the left, and the card on the right belongs to the manager of an electronic component factory in Zelenograd that we visited. We were outfitted in complete dust-proof clothing, and got to tour the factory where most of the Soyuz mission components were made.
Lyubov Vakovleva was an administrator at School 1207 in Moscow. Boris Bounkin was a distinguished member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Cards typically had the Russian title on one side, and the English translation on the other.
