San Jose - Coming Into The Country Our motel, which we affectionately called the "Worst Western," was located in a rough area of town, to say the least. The motel was centrally located, it just happened to be in the "combat zone." In fact, the rough condition of the hotel surroundings encouraged us to leave very early each morning, and return late in the evening. These was always a doorman / guard waiting for us. The view behind the motel was even more special than the front view. Located behind the motel, and now a children's museum, this used to be the state prison. The mountains that surround the city of San Jose can be seen in this picture. Anywhere you want to go, usually involves crossing one or more of these mountain ranges. The hotel itself wasn't bad, here is the restaurant area, right next to the pool. The area surrounding the hotel was not so great. Return |
