Seat
just back from reupholstering,
looks
better than new.

Engine
beginning to be disassembled, left side
upside
down, clutch basket lower
left,
Motoplat flywheel on right.

Bottom
of engine, inspection cover removed. Front
is
to the left, two cylinder drain plugs removed.

Engine
right side, upside down. Flywheel,
clutch
rod, shifter.

He
is a sign of problems. The engine primary drive
chains
are at top, and the transmission gears and
shift
dogs are at the bottom. That in itself is
not
a problem. The problem is....

....the
condition of those three transmission gears.
The
gears show rust and corrosion, will need to
be
replaced. The 3 affected gears are rusted
on
the top half, the part that would have been
sitting
above the transmission oil level, and
exposed
to moisture and condensation.

I
don't think cleaning and polishing the gears
is
even an option. The surfaces are shot, and
would
wear out the other gears if not replaced
with
new ones. Good chance to check the main
bearings
anyway, they should be replaced
as
long as the cases are opened up.
